Meg Zervoulis, Piano

Meg is an active collaborative musician in Hudson County, NJ and NYC. As a musical director, Meg has conducted numerous productions. Last winter, she musical directed, arranged, and performed Off-Broadway in Chuckleball: Jailhouse Jocks at the Snapple Theatre. She also recently served as MD and pianist on Kooman and Dimond’s Dani Girl in the ASCAP/Disney Workshop with Stephen Schwartz. At the acclaimed Papermill Playhouse, Meg is currently principal accompanist and audition pianist. Meg serves as Musical Director-In Residence at DeBaun Auditorium in Hoboken. She has also musical directed and performed at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Ballet, Lenora Nemetz’s Cabaret, Carnegie Mellon (Schools of Drama and Music), Wrecking Crew Music (MD), Mile Square Theatre, NJPAC YAI, and WYACT @ NJPAC. Ms. Zervoulis is also parish music director, cantor, and organist for St. Mary’s Church in Bayonne, NJ. 

As an educator and teaching artist, Meg has been affiliated with the following as Private/Public Faculty: Midori and Friends NYC selected teaching artist, Carnegie Mellon Piano Preparatory School, Hoboken, Bayonne, Memorial, and Rutherford high school drama departments, and private home studio in piano, vocal coaching, and music theory. Meg is also currently working in urban NJ school districts to create a curriculum for music in autism. Meg attended Carnegie Mellon University and received a B.F.A. with University Honors in Piano Performance with minors in conducting, piano pedagogy, and accompanying. Additionally, she obtained certification in K-12 Music Education with urban specialty. This semester, Meg is thrilled to begin a position as Adjunct Professor and Visiting Specialist in the Music and Drama Schools at Montclair State University.

As a pupil, meg has studied in the studios of Sergey Schepkin and Ralph Zitterbart (CMU, piano), John Corrigan (former Juilliard piano faculty) and Dr. Robert Page (CMU, conducting). As a pianist at CMU, Meg had the privilege of playing in the masterclasses of Earl Wild, Ilana Vered, and Enrique Graf. 

As a soloist and accompanist, Meg has given major recitals in Memphis, Montauk, Alabama, Pittsburgh, and New York City. She works as a duo accompanist alongside several of our In the Pocket faculty. Recently, Meg performed as the studio pianist for the film 
New Brooklyn by Christopher Cannucciari, which has advanced to the Cinequest Film Festival. 

In her private studio, Meg utilizes a wide variation of technical and theoretic methods. Meg welcomes students and families who are interested in music theory, piano, beginning jazz piano, vocal coaching, ear training and sight-singing/reading. Meg also specializes in music for the autistic child.

This year, Meg will be catalyzing the HudsonJAM project which will unite urban high school steppers, percussionists, slam poets, and dancers along the Hudson River. Meg aspires to continue a varied career in musical theatre direction, collaborative piano, and music education outreach. She is a member of Local 802 American Federation of Musicians NYC.
