Whitney Gardner, Piano

Whitney, a founding member of In The Pocket NYC, is a free-lance collaborative pianist in New York City, accompanying singers, actors, dancers, and instrumentalists in various creative settings. Behind the scenes, Ms. Gardner is an experienced rehearsal/audition pianist for Dance and Musical Theater productions. In performance, Ms. Gardner enjoys playing in chamber recitals as well as in musical theater productions. While most of her performing takes place in and around New York City, Ms. Gardner has been fortunate to travel and perform with the National Tour of ALTAR BOYZ (2009) as well as Barter Theatre's SWEENEY TODD in Virginia (2008).

With over 9 years' teaching experience, Whitney is a dedicated piano teacher. She specializes in the Beginning Piano method for both children and adults, but also welcomes transfer students of all levels.

Ms. Gardner studied at Carnegie Mellon University, earning both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Music in Piano Performance. While at CMU, Ms. Gardner completed the Piano Pedagogy Certification Program and began her teaching career with the highly-esteemed Beginning Piano Program at the Carnegie Mellon Preparatory School.
